There are hundreds of websites you can use to find more information on specific sites, cities, places to eat and much, much more. These are a few of our favorites:
Frommer's has detailed information on sites, self-guided walking tours, restaurants and more. Do a search for the city or country you are researching and start digging!
A JBIP favorite — Rick Steves' site allows you to search thousands of articles organized by destination. A wealth of easy-to-read and useful information.
Lonely Planet has lots of good information: click on a continent, then a country. For each country the "Background Info" link has useful information on history, culture and weather; under the "SEE" link you can check the "Places to see" tab and will find write-ups on various sites through out the country.
Another very good site is Destination 360 which has especially good coverage of Europe and the Americas. Use the map to click on a continent and then choose the country you want to explore, or go directly to the country by choosing from the list below the map. For each country, you will find an overview of the country, good articles on cities, and excellent coverage of the various sites (historical, artistic and natural) most visited in the country.
Don't forget to read the reports from prior years as well. Most of the Study Tours posted reports to us during their travels with photos and wry observations. Under "Spring and Summer Study Tours" or "Winter Study Tours" just click on the specific Study Tour and year you want to learn more about.
