What a whirlwind of activity! In Paris, we went nonstop. We went to see the Louvre, the famous art museum, that, we were told, would take you 3 years to get through if you looked at each piece for 3 seconds each.
We also went to Notre Dâme Cathedral, the setting for The Hunchback of Notre Dame. The Arc de Triomphe was a great experience as well, as we were able to walk underneath it and view the architecture up close. Then it was on the Conciergie, and the Memorial to the Holocaust victims of France, where it reads at the entrance, "Forgive but do not forget."
We also went to the Hotel des Invalides, and the tomb of Napoleon — breathtaking! We also saw Sacre Coeur (or Sacred Heart) and Monmartre.
There were street performers and Creole Music everywhere, and we were serenaded on a constant basis. The Pompidou Center had a great street performer in front who did a handstand on a board balanced on the shoulders of 2 audience members — and of course, the art was magnificent as well!
The Musée D'Orsay was breathtaking, with all of its impressionist paintings. We saw many wonderful paintings by famous artists, and all of us could recognize the Monets!!!
We did so much in Paris, that it would be impossible to write it all down. However, some of us decided we want to live there some day. We were all sad to leave this incredible place.
