| process; students interested in having an international internship are encouraged to prepare well in advance. An excellent academic record, good writing skills, foreign language fluency, maturity, a positive attitude, adaptability, good character and a strong sense of purpose are important elements in the selection process and in the success of the intern.
The JBIP office works with the student to find an internship that best suits the student's goals and interests. Queens students have completed internships with:

- The Royal Shakespeare Company in Stratford-upon-Avon, England

- Habitat for Humanity in Christchurch, New Zealand
- The Lilliput Press in Dublin, Ireland
- Price Waterhouse in Madrid, Spain
- Amnesty International in Wellington, New Zealand
- Caritas (a charitable social services organization) in Rostock, Germany
- The Victoria School (for handicapped children) in Poole, Dorset, England
- The German CDU Fraktion in Mecklenburg, Germany
- The Half Moon Theatre in London, England
- Philipp Holzmann and its subsidiaries in Frankfurt, Düsseldorf, Paris and Madrid
- An insurance/actuarial firm in Klagenfurt, Austria

These summer-long internships have provided students with work experience in the areas of marketing, banking, accounting, management, publishing, theater production, medical research, laboratory analysis, politics and government, public and social service, personnel recruitment, and education.
The John Belk International Program covers a majority of the basic costs of the internship — air and ground transportation, accommodations, meals and other basic expenses. Interns are expected to contribute to the funding of their program and to cover additional personal expenses.
