Introduction
In addition to domestic internships for academic credit, Queens University of Charlotte allows students the opportunity to gain real-world work experiences abroad. In 2008, the Internships & Career Programs Office partnered with World Endeavors to create affordable, professionally immersive opportunities, allowing students to work with local workers in countries and even live with local families. World Endeavors specializes in culturally immersive programs and their goal is to have a direct, positive impact on participants and their host communities by providing the opportunity for life-changing experiences.
Queens has selected to partner with World Endeavors because of its focus on educational, service, social justice, business, economic development and sustainability internship projects in foreign countries, including developing countries: a perfect fit for the Queens mission of “preparing students for noble lives and productive careers.” World Endeavors is also noted for its personalized service to students.
World Endeavors provides a full array of services to ensure a signature internship experience for the student including student interviews for placement at internships sites; on-ground cultural and language orientation; housing placement and assistance, including homestays; advice on visas; international cell phones, international accident insurance; and, an advisor in the host country.
