There are four course designations for the on-site internship experience:
- All students enrolled in the CAS Undergraduate Program are required to take INTE 498 and INTE 499, for a minimum 2 credits each. Students undertaking their internship in the summers will generally register for both courses simulatenously. For more information, see the Internship Process and Checklist.
- Students wishing to continue their internship experience, beyond INTE 498 and INTE 499, can enroll in INTE 497. INTE 497 can earn 1-6 credits, depending on the length of the internship. The INTE 497 class is included in full time tuition rates during the fall and spring semester, and is charged per credit hour during the summer.
- Students who are not required to do an internship for credit through the ICP office (Education, Music Therapy & Nursing majors and students who transferred with 36+ hours) are still eligible to receive credit. The pre-requisite of INTE 296 World of Work class still applies and upon successful completion, students may enroll in INTE 497 for 1-6 credit hours of internship credit. The INTE 497 class is included in full time tuition rates during the fall and spring semester, and is charged per credit hour during the summer.
- Students enrolled in the Hayworth College Program are eligible to take INTE 496 for academic credit as a field experience course. If interested, you must first speak with your academic advisor in the Hayworth Program. Human & Community Service and Interior Design majors are the only students required to complete an internship before graduation.
- INTE 498/499/497 - CAS Undergraduate Internship Program
During the school year, these classes meet once at the begining of the semester and then once at the end. The second meeting time is for students presentation. An Internship Contract must be submitted before beginning an internship for credit.
- INTE 496 - Hayworth College Field Experience Course
There are no course meetings for this section. Please stop by the Blair House or call 704.337.2337 to make an appointment for an individual orientation to answer your questions about the internship process.
If you have any questions about which course you should enroll for or general questions about the internship program, please email us at internships@queens.edu.
