We serve a community of faculty, students, staff and Friends of Everett Library. We are located in the beautiful Myers Park Neighborhood of Charlotte on Selwyn Avenue. Our University was founded in 1857 and we were thrilled to celebrate our Sesquicentennial Year in 2007. Everett Library was dedicated in 1960 and houses an on-line catalog that displays 150,000+ books, over 25,000 e-books, and hundreds of videos, both scholarly and popular. Everett is proud to offer access to 60+ databases for academic research as well as over 300 periodicals and newspapers, including 40 popular reading magazines. We provide 30 computer workstations and 10 loaner laptops with internet connections and electronic resources for research and study. Our staff is our most valued resource, helping students and faculty with research needs and maintaining open hours of 88+ per week.
Everett Library houses a series of collections focused upon Charlotte and Mecklenburg History, including the Barton Jackson Cathey Archives, the Anne Batten Collection, and the Rena Chambers Harrell Room. Papers and memorabilia of Dr. Billy O. Wireman, former President of Queens for 24 years, Scottish literature provided by the St. Andrew Society of Carolina, the scholarly papers of Dr. Paul Newman, poet and former Queens Professor Emeritus, and the books and wonderful items of Dr. Charles Hadley, beloved Queens professor of 50 years, also enhance Everett Library's holdings.
Everett's Friends of the Library organization raises funds and gifts to supplement the academic collection and provide furniture and equipment to enhance patron comfort and use of Everett Library.
Please accept our invitation to visit our website, http://www.queens.edu/library, or visit us in person in Everett Library. We look forward to meeting you.
Sincerely,
