Animal Info - Information on Rare, Threatened and Endangered Mammals
This highly organized site is searchable and contains brief information, including pictures, biology, habitat, and status of endangered mammals worldwide. IUCN Red List of Threatened Species
The IUCN (International Union for Conservation of Nature and Natural Resources) database provides taxonomic, conservation status, and distribution information on animal and plant species. Also includes summary statistical tables by country or taxonomic group, a bibliography, and a FAQ.
Mammal Species of the World (MSW)
This thesaurus contains the names of the 4,629 currently recognized species of mammals, in a taxonomic hierarchy that includes Order, Family, Subfamily, and Genus.
North American Mammals
"This is a searchable database of all living mammals of North America." Based on the Smithsonian Book of North American Mammals and Mammals of North America, the database is searchable by species name and conservation status, and browsable through a map of North America and an interactive family tree.
