The circulating book collection is arranged according to the Dewey Decimal System and spans all three floors of Everett Library. Oversized materials are housed on separate, smaller bookshelves on the second floor but are otherwise treated as circulating books.
Circulating books may be checked out by patrons with a valid borrower's card. Students, staff and faculty of Queens University of Charlotte are asked to bring their IDs, which will serve as their library cards. Alumni and Friends of the Library are issued borrower cards from Everett Library to be used for checking out materials. Books may be checked out for a period of up to four weeks. The check-out period for faculty is one semester. Students and guest borrowers are charged fines for overdue materials. All borrowers are responsible for the safe return of library materials and will be charged for lost or damaged items.

Assigned readings placed on reserve by faculty for Queens University of Charlotte courses are accessible through the E-reserve system or kept at the circulation desk and are available to students enrolled in the course. All reserve materials, both electronic and hard copy, are listed in the library's E-reserve system and can be searched using the professor's name or the course name or number. Reserve forms for professors are available via the library webpage under the heading "Forms". Most hard copy reserve materials circulate for two hours and are for use in the library only. Faculty may choose a longer circulation period if necessary to better suit the needs of the class. Electronically scanned reserve materials are available for the duration of the semester through the EReserve system and may be accessed on- or off-campus with the user id and password information. Fines are charged for overdue reserve materials.

Bibliographic Instruction is a method of teaching students, faculty, and staff effective and efficient ways to use and evaluate library resources. Bibliographic instruction may be formatted in different ways: library tours, class room instruction, computer lab instruction, group centered projects, and one on one specialized sessions designed for particular needs and library users. At Everett Library, our goal is to offer each of the above formats as often as requested. We will also proactively seek venues to deliver bibliographic instruction.
To request a bibliographic instruction session, fill out a Request for Bibliographic Instruction Form, or call us at 704 337-7127 or fax us at 704 337-2278.
