Provides expert guidance in assessing and working with individuals with eating disorders. Topics covered include: Understanding the many faces of eating disorders, identifying co-occurring conditions and how they impact treatment plans, therapeutic techniques for long term management, the role of the extended family in the treatment, and resources available.

Legal and Ethical Dilemmas in the Counseling Profession
A fast-paced, interesting workshop which incorporates video vignettes and case histories throughout the day in a variety of settings where counselors may be expected to report to officials (police, DSS, etc.) when encountering legal and ethical dilemmas. Some of the areas touched will include internet dilemmas, abuse and criminal issues, dual relationship issues and boundary violations. An Ethical Decision-Making Model will also be discussed; legal issues will be spotlighted, with tips on risk management.

Understanding the Needs of 21st Century Families
The reality is that the families of Ozzie and Harriet or Cliff and Claire Huckstable are things of the past with statistics showing that less than 50% of children under 18 today will spend their entire life with both biological parents. This seminar will explore the needs of modern families, discuss how our nation’s children are being raised in "non-traditional families" and the impact this cultural shift has had on individuals and our society at large.

Working With Families Through Divorce
Focuses on building skills in working with families through divorce, uncoupling, and co-parenting/step-parenting. Participants will learn to understand the emotional challenges clients face and what strategies work during this transition; the impact on children of the grief and loss associated with split families, and what parents can do to minimize the negative consequences moving forward. Ideal for social workers, ministers, and caregivers.
