About The Exhibit
This exhibition of four artists from Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Germany, and three artists from Mecklenburg County, North Carolina, is the second part of a cultural exchange that began with a 2008 exhibition in Pasewalk, Germany. This project fosters creative dialogue by pairing Charlotte and German artists who, though living in different cultures, address similar concerns in their work. This contemporary cultural dialogue is made possible through Charlotte’s historical connection to Mecklenburg, Germany. “Approaches II / Annäherungen” represents yet another aspect of our relationship to the larger world.
The Arts at Queens and Friends of Art at Queens host this exhibition as part of a collaboration with The Charlotte Symphony, the Mint Museum, and “Changing Places,” a Levine Museum of the New South exhibit exploring the influence of place and change on culture.
This project was made possible, in part, with funding by the Arts & Science Council and the North Carolina Arts Council, an agency of the Department of Cultural Resources, and the National Endowment for the Arts, which believes that a great nation deserves great art. |
