All applicants accepted for admission into the ASN program in the School of Nursing must be listed on the North Carolina Division of Facility Services Nurse Aid I Registry prior to entering Nursing Fundamentals (NURS 100).
Applicants who are listed as a NA I in another state MUST take the NA I Competency in NC to get listed on the North Carolina Division of Facility Services Nurse Aide I Registry.
Current American Heart Association Healthcare Provider CPR Certification is also required prior to entering Nursing 100.
Physical and emotional health that would provide evidence that is indicative of the applicant's ability to provide safe nursing care of the public is required prior to entering.
Before our admissions committee can make a decision on your application, you must have completed the application process. The following items must be received and the listed requirement(s) must be satisfied:
Application - After reading the instructions, please fill out the application as thoroughly as possible.
Application Fee - A non-refundable application fee of $40 is required and should be attached to your application. Checks should be made payable to Queens University of Charlotte. Your canceled check serves as your receipt and indicates your application has been received. Do not send cash.
High School Transcript - Please have your counselor send a copy of your transcript directly to the admissions office. The transcript should include cumulative high school grade point average, rank in class (if available), and a list of senior year courses. A decision on your application will be delayed until this information is received. When reviewing the high school transcript we look to see that the following high school academic units have been completed: *English - 4 units (college preparatory) *Math - 3 units (Algebra I and Algebra II are required) *Social Studies - 2 units (including U.S. History) *Science - 3 units (Biology, Chemistry and a lab science)
The units in Algebra I, Algebra II, Biology and Chemistry must be completed with a letter grade of "C" or better. Completing either the high school equivalent or college level course through a community college or college may satisfy unit requirements.
The applicant's academic class ranking should be in upper 1/3 of their high school graduating class or have a 3.0 cumulative GPA on a 4.0 scale.
Standardized Test Scores - Presbyterian School of Nursing accepts either SAT I or ACT scores. Scores should be sent directly from The College Board (SAT I) or from the American College Testing Program (ACT). When the applicant submits multiple scores, the highest SAT I verbal and math scores or ACT subsection scores are used in the admissions decision. The College Board code is 5560 and the ACT code is 3148 for Queens University of Charlotte.
When reviewing the Standardized Test Scores we look for a score of 900 or above on the Scholastic Assessment Test (SAT) or 20 or above on the American College Testing Program (ACT) composite score. Applicants may waive the Standardized Test Scores requirement if they have earned a Baccalaureate degree or completed at least 12 college credit hours in life, physical, and social sciences with a GPA of 2.50 or better. Life, physical and social science courses are defined as college level courses in Biology, Chemistry, Psychology, and Sociology. Students receive the greatest benefit by completing Anatomy and Physiology I, Anatomy and Physiology II, Microbiology, Introduction to Psychology, Developmental Psychology and Principles of Sociology since they meet the life, physical and social science courses criteria and may also transfer.
College Transcripts - Transfer students will need an official transcript from the registrar of each institution previously attended and an official copy of the high school record. If your name has changed, indicate on the application the name that will appear on the transcripts. A decision on your application will be delayed until this information is received. When reviewing college transcripts the admissions office is verifying that the cumulative GPA (all institutions attended) for each applicant is 2.50 or better.
