The Barton Jackson Cathey Archives houses materials relating to the history of Queens University of Charlotte and its antecedent institutions and materials relating to the Presbyterian Church's connection with the University at its various stages. In addition, some items reflect the history of the Charlotte area and include a limited number of personal collections.
*(Queens University of Charlotte was founded in 1857 as the Charlotte Female Institute. From 1896 to 1910, it was called the Presbyterian Female College, and the name was changed to Presbyterian College for Women in 1910. In 1913, the university was renamed Queens College, and the campus moved from downtown Charlotte to its present location.)
