Teena Finley Middleton ’77 loves animals. Pictured from the Queens Coronet yearbook with her two special friends (top photo), she crowned her Queens educational experience by graduating number one in her class of 1977 with a major in biochemistry.
Jack and Nina Finley proudly watched as their daughter received her diploma, thankful that they were able to provide her with such an outstanding opportunity for higher education. Middleton continued her studies at North Carolina State with a master of animal science degree and, in later years, a Ph.D. degree in nutrition. Today she is director of research and development for Ag ProVision, organizing and directing valuable research related to the swine industry. Her interest in science and love for animals led her to a successful and personally rewarding career. Middleton states that her Queens education prepared her well for the career path she chose to pursue.
Middleton continues to balance her professional life with her love of riding as in 1977. She is pictured here (bottom photo) enjoying what she loves to do, completing her fulfilling life.
Jack and Nina Finley wanted to honor Teena for her outstanding achievements and to help other Queens students build fulfilling lives. Using the matching gift program available through ExxonMobil, the Finleys were able to triple their personal gift allowing Queens to upgrade the equipment needed by the students in the science laboratories. Associate Professor of Chemistry Dr. Andy Tucker worked closely with Middleton to select the equipment most critical for the students' education.
You, too, may be able to use your employer's matching gift program to supplement your gifts to Queens. If you do not know if your, or your spouse's, employer provides such a program, you may want to inquire with the employer's benefits department so that you may leverage this benefit for your philanthropic interests.
