While financial support of immediate campus needs receives understandable attention, the endowment ultimately will provide for the success of many future generations at Queens. The endowment provides funds for scholarships, professorships, capital improvements, and other uses as specified by donors.

The current endowment, valued at just over $31 million in June of 2004, has held steady in recent years, despite a volatile market for most of this decade. Thanks largely to the Unbridled Destiny campaign that reached completion in 2002, the endowment has grown dramatically in the last 15 years, from a total of just $9 million in 1990. This growth is certainly attributable to both generous contributions and wise investment policy.
The endowment is divided into five investment categories:
As would be expected for an institution of higher education, the investment strategies have been generally conservative, with a philosophic focus on steady returns and growth. These efforts have produced an annual compounded rate of growth averaging 9.4 percent over the last 10 years, and 3.1 percent over the last five. The institution also tracks the endowment per student, which currently eamounts to $21,228 per full-time equivalent student.
