Sodexo continually strives to enhance the quality of daily life through our services and systems. We have the unique opportunity to share our philosophy of being good stewards with the Queens University of Charlotte community. The Campus Services Department actively uses products and services that reduce strain on health and environment. In addition, we are always looking for new and better ways to serve our community and help support the environment.
Vendor Relationships
Sodexo utilizes their unique vendor relationships to provide the best possible service and practices to our customers. One such example of this is with the purchase and disposal of our campus light bulbs. We have created a partnership with Ecologic, Osram Sylvania’s environmental program, where all orders are Green Friendly while still providing the performance equal to or better than non-ECO products.
Green Cleaning
Our biggest sustainability impact area is with our Green Cleaning initiatives. Our chemicals, microfiber rags and mops, vacuums, and floor care have all gone GREEN!
All of our housekeeping cleaning chemicals and paper products are Green Seal Approved Products or have been Green Recommended and EPA approved. Our chemicals are dispensed in a Quick Click system which helps to reduce packaging and automatically dilutes at an optimal level to prevent over-use/waste of chemicals. All paper and tissue is unbleached and made from recycled products.
In late 2007, Microfiber Mops and Cloths were introduced to our cleaning arsenal. Microfiber is an ultr-thin fiber that provides a deeper clean into small cervices. This actually creates a larger surface area which allows more dirt particles to be captured while reducing water consumption due to a reduced absorption rate.
Our floor care program has been the leader in the movement towards Sustainability. In 2006 we switched to the Phazer Floor Finish Application System. This is not a Green product but is a Green Process. The Phazer system’s applicator significantly reduces the amount of product that is stored between the applicator head and the reservoir tank. This reduces the amount of product that is introduced to the environment via waste during cleanup.
Our Proteam Super Vacuums have a state of the art filtration system, which is the only vacuum that has been approved by the American Lung Association. Our vacuums are a key component to keep indoor air quality positive for all community members.
