Laney is now back at Queens. Laney is the campus visit coordinator in the Office of Admissions. She makes sure all potential students have a wonderful experience when they visit Queens just like she did.
Laney is also currently enrolled in the Interior Design program at Queens and is interning for the Administration and Operations Department. “I have worked with student task forces for the Wallace Renovation and Providence Place, our new apartment housing off campus, to assess their needs in what would make the residence halls feel like home. Using the students input, I gathered choices for them to help me select furniture, carpet and wall colors.”
In addition to being a Queens alumna, staff member, student and intern, Laney is also a member of The Royal Society of The Queens Fund. The Royal Society of The Queens Fund recognizes individuals who contribute between $1,000 - $24,999 annually to The Queens Fund or the McColl School of Excellence Fund. These gifts go directly to student scholarships, both merit and need-based.
“I was fortunate to receive generous scholarships and grants from Queens. Working in Admissions now, I see on a daily basis, the lives that are changed by our scholarships. I am grateful for the scholarships that I received and want to give the same opportunities to our future students.”
Laney goes on to say, “We can make significant changes and improvements by giving, at Queens or in our greater community, be it with donations or our time. A gift, no matter the size, will make an impact on students’ lives, especially combined with our classmates’ contributions. Giving is a collaborative effort. Dr. Wireman so often spoke of the importance of servant leadership. His commitment to furthering the advancement of Queens and Charlotte continues to serve as an inspiration to me.”
