Acrylic paints, a respected medium, have a range of use allowing them to be applied like watercolors or used like oils. In this course, learn the basic techniques of acrylics and its great flexibility. Fundamentals of drawing, elements of color theory and composition will be presented. Participants will be given the opportunity to explore other capabilities of acrylics such as collage or mixed media application. Supply list sent upon registration.

Masterful Drawing Made Easy
Discover how to develop your own drawing techniques and style. This course will explore basic art elements via a variety of methods such as using graphite, charcoal and colored pencil. An understanding of “art elements”, eye and hand coordination and development of techniques will also be covered. Supply lists provided upon registration.

Drawing with Charcoal & Oil Pastels - Workshop
Explore shading and color with charcoal and oil pastels. Two classes will be devoted to each medium. Both are expressive, quick studies. Works of "The Masters" will be one source of inspiration for drawing exercises. Participants are encouraged to consider personal sources of inspiration as well.

Watercolor Painting for Beginners
Immerse yourself in a watercolor tradition. This course provides a unique challenge of painting in the great outdoors and experiencing the effects of sunlight and shadows. Learn the ease and quickness of application through the one-stroke technique, the brilliance of color through the blending of paint and the effects of color and light through wet on wet transparency painting. Theory, demonstrations and exercises are used. Each student will be able to create beautiful mountain landscapes, still life settings, or photos. To ensure the most beautiful watercolor painting, the use of good art material from brushes to paint to paper is extremely important. Students need to bring photos, art material and an eye for beauty to class. Supply lists provided upon registration.

Oil Painting for Beginners and Nearly Beginners
Learn the basics of oil painting while tapping into your creative side! Popular art instructor, Jean Cauthen provides this rare opportunity to join a "strictly (or Almost) beginners" class. Absolutely, no painting experience necessary. Learn in a possitive, enthusiastic atmosphere. Through simple exercises and small paintings that will emphasize color mixing and design, you will be introduced to a new world of painting. A supply list will be given upon registration.

Oil Painting Workshop
This class furthers your beginning class, however, it is open to all levels. Students may choose to work on assignments guided by the instructor, Jean Cauthen or complete their own projects with assistance. Instruction is given on an individual basis and students are encouraged to find their own painting vocabulary. Emphasis is on color, design and composition. This is a great class to take in preparation for launching into Landscape Painting. (Class size is limited, a supply list will be given upon registration.)

In order to receive a refund, less a $50 processing fee, you must withdraw from a class in writing at least 10 working days prior to the start of the course. No refunds or make up classes will be given after that time. Please note that if you do not officially withdraw from the course and do not attend the course, you are still responsible for the payment. If the course is canceled for any reason, you will be notified and your entire tuition fee will be refunded.
