While Queens has remained a source of pride for our community for 150 years, we enter our new Strategic Plan with a goal in excess of $40 million in facilities initiatives to:
• Build a new Duke Energy Sciences and Health Building that will be a LEED-certified, gold-level environmentally designed facility
• Expand athletic facilities at Queens’ Sports Complex at Marion Diehl Park, in partnership with the Mecklenburg County Parks and Recreation Department
• Renovate dormitories and classrooms, such as West formerly known as Walker and Watkins Halls.

While Queens’ facilities initiatives include several key construction and renovation projects that will address increased enrollment and meet critical student needs, most important is the University’s new Sciences & Health Building. Considered by many to be the focal point of the University’s plan, the new state-of-the-art facility will help address North Carolina’s healthcare demand, boast a leading-edge “green” technology design and attract new students interested in the sciences.
Lead gifts to the Investing in Queens’ Future Campaign already have had great impact on the campus community.
• The renovated Harris House Welcome Center provides a new gateway to the University.
• The Wither's House renovation into the Center for Lifelong Learning provides an inviting space for community learning
• The new Lion’s Den Grille and Game Room provides the perfect social setting for promoting fellowship among our students.
• The new soccer/lacrosse field at the Sports Complex provides Queens’ athletes with state-of-the-art playing and practice turf, while Rex, the world’s largest standing lion sculpture – rising an impressive 27 feet in the air at the entrance to the Sports Complex – provides an imposing greeting for opposing teams.
