Since its founding in 1857, Queens University of Charlotte has built a legacy of leadership and created a dynamic institution that is transforming lives with a personalized learning environment, innovative instructional approach and a full spectrum of educational programs.

The University has grown significantly in 152 years, evolving from a small women’s college in uptown Charlotte to a comprehensive university that provides its diverse co-educational student body with an array of undergraduate and graduate programs. Through the years, Queens has remained a source of pride for our alumni, students and friends.

Queens enters its 2012 Strategic Plan by focusing on investments that will transform the campus and pave the way for innovative opportunities for its students. The Investing in Queens’ Future Campaign provides strategic focus on the University’s highest priorities to attract and retain high-quality students. The campaign seeks to meet the following goals and objectives: 

Facilities Initiatives – to address critical workforce needs, invest in technology and innovative learning spaces and enhance the quality of our students’ lives and the larger community.

Endowed Scholarships, Programs and Centers – to enable the University to provide students with engaging professors, personalized learning environments, innovative centers that promote exploration and global perspectives integrated across the curriculum. Key priority areas include presidential scholarships, programmatic support for the Wayland H. Cato, Jr. School of Education, School of Communication, Center for Excellence in Teaching & Learning, Center for Ethics & Religion, and Center for Entrepreneurial Leadership.

Annual Scholarships, The Queens Fund and the McColl School Excellence Fund – to provide annual merit- and financial need-based scholarships for hundreds of Queens’ students.

Increase membership in the Thelma Albright Society -- to enable donors to make a lasting and meaningful difference in the world through legacy giving.

The population of Queens University of Charlotte has grown 30 percent in the last five years, now including 33 undergraduate majors and more than 50 concentrations, 7 pre-professional programs, and 8 graduate programs. In all academic units, Queens has created mission-driven programs which enable students to make practical use of their classroom experience through internships and international learning. Queens is ranked in the top ten percent nationally in four of five benchmark categories in the National Survey of Student Engagement.  Graduates rate the University’s faculty as caring, competent and passionate about their discipline.  Queens is thriving, boasting five N.C. Professors of the Year, 16 NCAA Division II men's and women's sports teams, and exemplary international study and international study and internship programs that have been ranked among the best in the country.

Queens owes its enormous success to the generous donations of those who share its mission to recruit talented faculty, offer new courses, expand its acclaimed internship program and create innovative centers for exploration and learning.
