President, Queens University Of Charlotte

Dr. Pamela Davies became President of Queens University of Charlotte on July 1, 2002, making her the 20th president of the institution. She is the former Dean of the McColl School of Business, and before coming to the institution, she was Professor of Management and Dean of the LeBow College of Business at Drexel University. She received her bachelor’s degree from the University of Florida, her master’s degree from Missouri State University and her Ph.D. in strategic planning and international business from the University of Tennessee.
 
As Dean of the McColl School of Business, Dr. Davies developed and implemented the Executives in Residence program and the Leadership Spectrum, which illustrates leadership as the demonstration of competence, character and a commitment to community. She was also the driving force behind having the McColl School accepted as a candidate for accreditation through AACSB International, which it achieved in April 2007.
 
Dr. Davies has distinguished herself through her commitment to providing innovative and high quality education. Her particular focus has been on increasing community involvement and forging industry and academic partnerships that enhance the relevance and applicability of academic programs.
 
 
Dr. Davies’ professional specialization is in the field of strategic planning, with particular emphasis on competitive and marketing strategy. She has written numerous articles in the areas of strategic planning, international strategy and entrepreneurship/ new venture strategy. She is the lead author of the book, Management: Challenges for the 21st Century, which has been adopted at more than 200 universities across the United States. Dr. Davies also has been active in executive education and consulting, serving as a strategic planning consultant for numerous organizations across a wide variety of industries.

Leading by example, Dr. Davies is very involved in the community and serves on the Board of Directors for several non-profit organizations including the YMCA of Greater Charlotte, Charlotte Chamber of Commerce, Charlotte Regional Partnership, and Presbyterian Hospital, as well as the Board of the Association of Presbyterian Colleges and Universities. She received the Women in Business Achievement Award from the Charlotte Business Journal in 2003, the Servant Leadership Award from the YMCA of Greater Charlotte in 2008, and the 50 Most Influential Women Award from The Mecklenburg Times in 2009. Dr. Davies serves on three public company boards: C&D Technologies, Inc., Family Dollar, and Sonoco Products Company.
