Center for Lifelong Learning

2010 Nurse Educators Institute

The Center for Lifelong Learning at Queens University of Charlotte is an approved provider of continuing nursing education by the North Carolina Nurses Association, an accredited approver by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation.

This 45 nursing contact hour program is designed for current nurse educators who:

• Need to meet the new nurse educator requirements as set forth by the NC Board of Nursing
• Seek additional training by experienced faculty in their field
• Seek motivation for pursuing a Masters Degree
• Need additional contact hours for licensing

In this course participants will study the components of the nurse educator role in academic settings. Included will be adult learning theories, legal/ethical issues, learning styles, curriculum development, learning objectives, teaching strategies, diversity in education, evaluation methods, syllabus writing, online education and personal qualities of effective educators. Course content will be presented by a group of teaching professionals selected for their expertise from the Presbyterian School of Nursing at Queens University of Charlotte.

This program will be held Tuesday-Friday the first week and Monday-Wednesday the second week, allowing for an optional weekend in the beautiful city of Charlotte, North Carolina. Charlotte offers a large variety of great restaurants, entertainment and shopping, including SouthPark Mall, which is only a 10 minute drive from the campus.

The 2008 and 2009 Nurse Educators Institute were a great success. The participants walked away feeling inspired and well-equipped as an educator. “Excellent faculty.
