The mathematics major includes a variety of abstract topics to delight the pure mathematician as well as applied courses for those whose interests lie in the real world. A degree in mathematics shows that you are a person who can think logically and solve problems and will open the door to may different career paths. The mathematics program at Queens combined with a solid background in the liberal arts, an international experience, and a year-long internship will prepare you for whatever challenges await you in your future!
Careers
The Department of Mathematics offers courses which reflect the general nature of mathematics. The student majoring in mathematics can choose a program which provides preparation for teaching at the secondary school level, continuing the study of mathematics in graduate school, or pursuing the many opportunities in interdisciplinary areas such as sociology, psychology and biology. In addition, a rigorous training in mathematics or applied mathematics is excellent intellectual training for a wide variety of careers.
