Everett Library
Everett Library’s primary mission is to build educational partnerships with students, faculty, and staff of Queens University of Charlotte. The library staff ensures that information is readily accessible to the university community through the selection, purchase, organization, and presentation of materials and services. Library staff members guide, direct, and teach patrons using principles of information literacy.
As the university’s information resources provider, through the use of advanced information technologies and traditional sources, the library supports the mission, goals, and curriculum of the institution.
Major Goals and Objectives
I. Educational Partnerships
- To assist and instruct students, faculty and staff in the location, retrieval and evaluation of information sources using conventional and innovative technologies.
- To involve librarians and faculty in the development of the collection and in the instruction of the uses of technological formats to enhance instruction and learning.
II. Information Source Research and Development
- To identify, acquire, organize and provide materials needed to support the instructional programs of the university, guaranteeing access to these materials regardless of format.
- To foster an appreciation of the interdisciplinary nature of information and encourage life-long learning.
- To reflect in the collection the diversity of opinion and cultures that comprise contemporary society.
III. Stewardship
- To serve as a resource to the community and to cooperate with other institutions in the interest of resource sharing for the benefit of all.
- To facilitate electronic delivery of library services beyond the walls of the library.
IV. Professional Skills and Competencies
- To teach information literacy skills.
- To lead library users to demonstrate competencies in research methodology.
- To provide training and development opportunities for library staff in areas of emerging and advanced technological information sources and services.
Vision Statement
Everett Library grounds and lifts the mission of the comprehensive Queens University of Charlotte by serving as a constantly-evolving information center offering current formats and services befitting a dynamic information center for all members of the Queens community.
