The Communications Committee was established from the foundation of the original Team 2007. The committee will continue to strive for excellence in campus communication, by:
Acting as a liaison between the staff members and the Queens Staff Council
Disseminating event news and information from the various Queens committees to all campus staff members
Developing strategies to improve current communication processes by partnering with University Relations, Human Resources and Information Technology Services
Providing online resources for staff development opportunities
One of the first accomplishments of the Communications Committee was to create a Staff Council, whose role at the University is to represent staff and to contribute toward realizing the Queens' Employee Vision Statement.
Following the Staff Council's formation, the Communications Committee, in partnership with University Relations, published the Staff Council landing page.
Currently, the Communications Committee is partnering with IT Services and Human Resources to update and maintain the online faculty and staff directory. In addition, the committee is working with the Staff Council in an effort to implement a campus-wide event and scheduling calendar.
If you have campus communication concerns please let us know so that we can assist.
The Communications Committee, achieves its goals by working together with the staff at Queens. To act as a liaison for the staff, the committee members need feedback from staff members so that the communication at Queens can improve individually, departmentally and campus-wide. The Communications Committee develops strategies to improve current communication processes as feedback is provided to each of the Communications Committee members.
The Communications Committee uses the information provided by Queens staff to share campus needs with the Staff Council. As strategic projects for communication improvement are developed, the committee shares event news and information to all campus staff members via the internet and/or the QNews daily email letter for faculty and staff. The reciprocal nature of this partnership benefits the whole Queens community.
