Queens University of Charlotte recognizes the Senior Year as a transition time for students. In 2002, a Senior Year Experience Committee, composed of faculty, staff and seniors, was created to implement strategies for a smoother transition to life after college. The SYE Committee’s main objectives are to share important graduation information, provide educational programs concerning transition and career development, and plan celebratory activities throughout the Senior Year.
The SYE website is designed to direct students to the resources they need to make the last year at Queens and their first years out of college successful. In addition to the website, several offices will offer programs for seniors about resumes, interviewing, finances, vocation and spirituality, becoming an alum, living on your own and many other topics.
Here are a few campus resources that will be helpful in transitioning from the experience of student to graduate.
Alumni, Donor and Community Relations
Because “classmate to classmate” contact has proven to be the most effective way for Queens to reach its alumni, we have developed a Class Representative system. This system consists of a Class Reporter and a Class Agent (your class may have more than one of both positions; in fact, we encourage sharing the work load). In addition to your duties, you are asked to attend the Alumni Leadership Conference, where you will have extensive training in your position as well as being a Queens' volunteer. Through these positions, along with alumni chapters and other volunteers, we hope alumni will stay in touch with one another, as well as with Queens.
Class officers are elected during Reunion Weekend and representatives are asked to commit to at least one five-year term, or until their class’s next reunion. This enables Queens to establish a lasting relationship with representatives. Of course, we would love for our representatives to reside in their positions as long as possible. Whether you commit to a five or fifty-year term, we do hope you will contribute enthusiasm and support to Queens' programming. At the end of your time, we also hope you will help us find your successor. After all, you are in the best position to recommend a classmate with a spirit as loyal to Queens as your own.
The mission of the Queens University of Charlotte Class Agent program is to promote lasting relationships between the Class Agent, their classmates, and their alma mater, by encouraging alumni participation and support for the financial stability of Queens University of Charlotte.
