Outdoor Education programming at Queens University of Charlotte resides in the Office of Student Activities. Each year Outdoor Education offers a variety of activities which engage students in a range of new and challenging outdoor experiences. These experiences are meant to offer educational opportunities for students outside the classroom. They also build skills and knowledge and about the natural environment.
Some examples of our activities include:
Whitewater Rafting
The largest man-made river in North America sits just afew miles from Queens. Each year students raft the mighty waters at the US National Whitewater Rafting Cetner.
Hiking
The scenic forests of the Carolinas offer unmactched views the souther landscapes.
Students are taken on several hiking trips yearly
to various national parks in and around the Carolinas.
Indoor rock-climbing
Charlotte offers several in-door rock climbing locations
for students to learn and practice on before they take their
skills outside.
Skiing
The snow-capped mountains of North Carolina have some of the best
slopes in the southeast. Students are taken to locations such as Sugar
Mountain for a day of skiing and snow-boarding.
These experiences bring together a variety of ability levels to participate in adventures where students learn about themselves and their community. More importantly, these programs connect students to one another, and their world.
