Educating
Queens University of Charlotte’s Leadership Program includes Emerging Leaders, Leadership Team, Leadership Course and a Leadership Concentration. Each of these programs further develops students as leaders so they can provide leadership to clubs and organizations on campus. The skills learned will assist the graduates in becoming leaders in their community.
EXCEL is the newest program designed as a focused leadership experience for daring individuals who choose to challenge their perspective on a specific issue. Leading Honorably is this year’s topic. Each activity and experience throughout EXCEL will relate to this topic. EXCEL members need 100 points to graduate with a certificate from the program. Each experience is worth a specific amount of points.
I. Experiencing Adventure
Friday, September 15, 2-6pm – 25 points
EXCEL members will participate in an on-campus team building experience. The activities will be intense, challenging and dramatic.
II. Creating Challenges – 5 activities – 10 points each
EXCEL members choose five activities to round out their experience. Participants are encouraged to try new activities.
Students receive 10 points toward the EXCEL program by experiencing an activity that relates to the semester’s topic. Students may be as creative as they would like with the activities they attend or design. Leadership faculty and staff are available to serve as a resource to help students design and coordinate creative activities, such as Shadow Days and volunteer work.
III. Educating Each Other
Thursday, October 19, 7-9pm – 25 points
EXCEL members discuss as a group what they have learned thus far, how they plan on using what they have learned and pass on ideas for others to complete their Challenges.
IV. Leading to a Celebration: Commencement Reception
Wednesday, November 15, 7pm
EXCEL members with 100 points will celebrate the completion of the program with a special reception in their honor. A guest speaker will close the program. EXCEL graduates receive a certificate.
