To answer questions you may have about Campus Police, we have provided this page to give the Queens University of Charlotte community general knowledge of who we are and what we do.
Campus police are sworn police officers who are employed by any college or university that is a constituent institution of The University of North Carolina or any private college.
Campus police officers must graduate from a state accredited police academy, pass a an extensive background investigation, pass a psychological and personality test, complete a physical examination and drug test. Officers must also pass a polygraph examination administered by the State Bureau Investigations office, pass a campus police test administered by the state which evaluates the officers ability to make decisions dealing with law enforcement actions.
Campus police officers have the same powers as municipal and county police officers to make arrests for both felonies and misdemeanors and to charge for infractions.
Campus police officers are given their authority by the Attorney General of North Carolina and must abide by all laws of North Carolina and rules governed by the Criminal Justice Standards Division.
Campus police jurisdiction encompasses all property owned and controlled by Queens University of Charlotte to include all public roads that immediately adjoin campus.
