The Department of Chemistry supports majors in Chemistry and Biochemistry. Below are the major requirements for each major. For more questions please contact Dr. Dimitra Acheson (Chemistry Department Chair).
Chemistry Core (Total of 50 hours): All students in the major must take the following courses
CHEM 111, 111L Chemistry Principles I and Lab CHEM 112, 112L Chemistry Principles II and Lab CHEM 303, 303L Organic Chemistry I and Lab CHEM 304, 304L Organic Chemistry II and Lab CHEM 305, 305L Quantitative Analysis and Lab CHEM 307, 307L Instrumental Analysis and Lab CHEM 308, 308L Physical Chemistry I and Lab CHEM 309, 309L Physical Chemistry II and Lab CHEM 310 Inorganic Chemistry BIOL 209 Principles of Biology II
Plus Either CHEM 401, 401L Biochemistry and Lab or CHEM 403, 403L Advanced Biochemistry I and Lab
Plus: 4 hours of biology at the 200 level or above
Plus Physical Sciences Concentration II (19 Hrs):
PHYS 101 General Physics I PHYS 102 General Physics II MATH 121 Calculus I MATH 122 Calculus II CSCI 131 Computer Science I
