The goal of the Foreign Language Department is to ensure the ability of students to communicate verbally and in written form in the target language(s) with proficiency and comfort. Attention is also devoted to studies of culture and literature in order to assure an in-depth appreciation for cultural patterns and linguistic excellence. The faculty strongly believes that students need to be fluent in a language other than their own in order to integrate themselves into the global economy of the future.
