Proficiency Examination
Students may fulfill the computer proficiency requirement by successfully completing an examination which covers the content of the CIS 110 Microsoft Office 2007 course text. Successful completion of the exam waives the CIS 110 course requirement, but does not result in the student receiving academic credit.
The exam consists of (4) sub-tests which can be completed at any time and in any order. Once you have completed the first sub-test, all other sub-tests must be completed within (14) days. In addition, a practice test for MS Word is available to become familiar with the myitlab test environment.
The exam is taken on-line at any computer with an internet connection. The computer does not have to have Microsoft Office installed. Some software installation is required, so you must have administrator rights. An installation wizard is available to install the necessary files on your computer. All computers in the Dickson computing lab on campus (basement of Walker Science Bldg) and DeWitt lab (Dana 312) are set up to run the myitlab testing software.
There is no time limit on the practice exam. The proficiency exam sub-tests do have time limits.
