- With a generalized understanding of the world system, a specialized area study, and an on-going attention to current events, International Studies majors are prepared to think globally, locally, and contemporarily in economic, political, social, and cultural terms.
- International Studies majors are broadly trained and regionally trained who bring language and cross-cultural skills to the job world. Most students double-major in order to have a second set of specific skills for employment e.g. foreign language, business, political science or psychology. Career opportunities run the gamut from government to industry to human services to communication-type jobs. Click on jobs (link) to see a list of what our majors are doing.
- International Studies majors complete a residency abroad in the country of their foreign language specialty. This can be combined with foreign language study, for instance, with one of Queens foreign language immersion programs. In addition, all students at Queens have the opportunity to travel abroad on one of the John Belk International Program Study Tours.
