Upon entry into the College of Arts and Sciences, all students (not just Math majors) will be required to take a mathematics placement test. On the basis of the placement test results and their previous academic record, students will be placed in one of the following three categories:
- Category one: Not required to take mathematics courses as a general university
requirement; if student does take a mathematics course, placement is MATH 121 or above.
- Category two: Required to successfully complete either MATH 104, MATH 105,
MATH 110 or MATH 111.
- Category three: Required to successfully complete either MATH 104, MATH 105,
MATH 110 or MATH 111; completion of MATH 099 is suggested before enrolling in the above.
The writing-intensive course requirement for all students in the College of Arts and Sciences is met with MATH 401.
