James H. Glenn
Music Department Chair, Professor of Music
Dr. James H. Glenn received his Doctor of Musical Arts degree from the University of Oklahoma in 1982. He earned his M.A. in Choral Music from Occidental College in Los Angeles, California and his BA in Vocal Music Education from Luther College in Decorah, Iowa.
Dr. Glenn directs the Queens University of Charlotte Chorale, teaches Conducting, several courses in music history and private voice lessons. He joined the Queens faculty in 1989.

Music Therapist, Board Certified
Dr. Frances Jones McClain received her Ph.D from Temple University, M. Ed. from Winthrop University, M.M. in Music Therapy and B.M. from Michigan State University.
Dr. McClain, the former Director of Music Therapy, taught music therapy courses, supervised music therapy majors in on and off campus practica, and administered the a Music Therapy Clinic for children with special needs. As a Board Certified Music Therapist (MT-BC), Dr. McClain has worked with children and adults in various medical, educational, rehabilitative, and residential settings. In addition, Dr. McClain frequently presents at healthcare conferences, has co-authored and authored a book, and has been the recipient of several teaching awards.

Voice Instructor and Director of Opera Theatre at Queens
Ms. Constance Rhyne-Bray earned her Master of Music degree in Opera Production from Florida State University and Bachelor of Music degree in Vocal Performance from Wittenberg University.
Ms. Rhyne-Bray has been an instructor in voice and the director of the Queens Opera Theatre since 1984. She has performed and directed throughout the area, most recently directing Menotti's "Amahl and the Night Visitors" for Opera Carolina. Ms. Rhyne-Bray has taught voice as an adjunct at Davidson College and has been affiliated with MTNA (Music Teachers National Association) and NATS (National Association of Teachers of Singing). She was the state voice chair for NCMTA (North Carolina Music Teachers Association). At Queens, she has been involved with the Honors program as well as teaching courses in diction for singers, vocal pedagogy, musical theater and world music for the music department.

Director of Music Therapy
Dr. Rebecca Engen earned her Ph.D in Music Education/Music Therapy, MA and BM with honors in Voice and Music Therapy from the University of Iowa.
Dr. Engen, associate professor of music therapy, teaches music therapy courses, provides clinical supervision for students in both on-and off-campus practica, and has been a trip leader for the John Belk International Program. As a Board Certified Music Therapist (MT-BC) and a Neurologic Music Therapist (NMT), Dr. Engen is a regular presenter at regional and national healthcare conferences and has been published in several professional journals.

Carolyn G. McMahon Professor of Music
Artist-in-Residence, Artistic Director for Friends of Music at Queens
Dr. Paul Nitsch earned his Doctor of Musical Arts in Collaborative Piano from the Cleveland Institute of Music /Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio. Dr. Nitsch earned his Masters of Music and Bachelor of Music degrees in Piano Performance at the Peabody Conservatory of Music from the Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland. He also spent two years as a Fulbright Scholar studying piano performance at the Academy of Music (Hochschule fur Musik and Darstellende Kunst) in Vienna, Austria.
Dr. Nitsch is currently the Carolyn G. McMahon Professor of Music, Artist -in-Residence and Artistic Director for the Friends of Music at Queens.

Director of Queens Music Academy
Ms. Elaine Miller holds degrees in music from UNC-G and the University of Connecticut at Storrs.
Ms. Miller teaches courses in piano, sight singing and ear training, fundamentals of music, and music theory. She is the Director of the Music Academy, staff accompanist for the music department, and appears in concert with the university chorale as its accompanist throughout the concert season. She has also received the prestigious Permanent Professional Certificate in Piano from the Music Teachers National Association. Ms. Miller has been a member of the music faculty since 1983.

Conductor of the Queens Chamber Singers and Royal Showstoppers
Ms. Ginger Wyrick holds a Masters of Music and a Master of Sacred Music degrees from Southern Methodist University and a Bachelor of Music degree from University of North Carolina at Greensboro.
Ms. Wyrick, conductor, author, clinician, lecturer, teacher and performer, is an Assistant Professor of Music where she directs the Queens Chamber Singers and Royal Showstoppers and teaches several theory courses. She is President-Elect for the North Carolina ACDA following ten years of services as state treasurer. Ms. Wyrick frequently leads workshops and lectures on music education and church music; serves as an adjudicator for piano, voice and choral festivals; and appears as guest conductor for special events, music festivals and camps.
