The academic study of philosophy and religion at Queens University of Charlotte engages students in a comprehensive and critical investigation of questions about truth, knowledge and ethics from a religious and philosophical perspective. It increases a student’s awareness of the ways humans seek meaning in life. The broad inquiry into patterns of thought and lives helps the students attain a depth of thought that is invaluable for a wide variety of graduate studies and careers.
Literally meaning "love of wisdom," philosophy is the inquiry into fundamental questions that humans ask:
- What is the good life?
- What is most real?
- How can humans know?
- What is sound reasoning?
- What is the good life for humans?
The academic study of religion also explores how communities and individuals have lived their faith. By studying Judeo-Christian religions as well as other religious traditions, the study of religion gives the student a perspective on modes of thought and practice that form for many the basis for a good life.
