Dr. Davies has utilized her professional expertise in competitive and marketing strategy to lead student recruitment efforts that have doubled the student body.  In addition, she spear-headed the creation of four academic units—the Cato School of Education, the Knight School of Communication,  the Presbyterian School of Nursing, and the Blair College of Health. The Queens campus has been transformed through investments in infrastructure including new academic buildings, athletic and student recreation facilities and residential housing.

The growth in academic units and campus infrastructure was made possible by the completion of a very successful $110M capital campaign in 2011. In addition, a recent $20M+ scholarship gift has launched an effort to build Queens' scholarship endowment to support both academically meritorious students and those with financial need. Throughout this growth and in the development of future plans, Dr. Davies has remained focused on the importance of community engagement and forging industry and academic partnerships that enhance the relevance and applicability of the student experience.

Leading by example, Dr. Davies is very involved in the community and beyond. She is currently the board of one public company, Sonoco Products, Inc., in Hartsville, SC, where she serves on both the Financial Policy Committee and the Compensation Committee.  Dr. Davies also serves on the boards of the World Alliance of YMCAs, the Board of the Y-USA, and is a Life Trustee of the Charlotte Metro YMCA. She is a member of the Charlotte Chamber Board and serves on the Executive Committee. In the academic realm, Dr. Davies served as a past President of the Association of Presbyterian Colleges and Universities, and on the Executive Committee of the North Carolina Independent Colleges and Universities. In 2003, Dr. Davies was an honoree for the Charlotte Business Journal's Women in Business Achievement Award, and she was the 2012 Lifetime Achievement Award recipient.  Davies has also received the John R. Mott Award from the YMCA of Greater Charlotte in March 2014, the Servant Leadership Award from the YMCA of Greater Charlotte in 2008, was named one of the 50 Most Influential Women Award from The Mecklenburg Times in 2009, and a "Woman of Inspiration" by the Girl Talk Foundation in 2013. Davies was honored in 2015 by Mecklenburg Ministries with the Sydnor Thompson, Jr. Community Leader Award.

Dr. Davies earned her bachelor's degree from the University of Florida, her master's degree from Missouri State University and her Ph.D. in strategic planning and international business from the University of Tennessee. She and her husband, Bob, have four children and four grandchildren.
