Presidential Prospectus Complete
To the Queens Community,
I write today with an update from the Presidential Search Committee on the progress of our work. We are on schedule with our timeline, having thus far named the search committee and gathered community input through a survey and series of open forum discussions.
Following a search committee meeting on May 3, we have finalized the position prospectus which is now posted on the Presidential Search website. This important document is part position description and part recruiting tool. It will introduce candidates to our unique story, and, if we’ve done our job well, intrigue them about the opportunity to build on Queens’ rich history, strong foundation and considerable momentum.
I’d like to thank the many members of the Queens community who provided such thoughtful input via our listening sessions and survey. Your contributions helped shape the prospectus, particularly the opportunities and challenges before us, as well as the desired qualifications and characteristics of our next leader.
We are well-positioned for the next phase of the search. Over the coming months we will receive applications, actively recruit outstanding candidates and then begin the process of evaluating and narrowing the pool.
In the meantime, we encourage you to continue recommending talented candidates for consideration. The power of the Queens network is an asset we want to leverage. Please direct prospective candidates to the presidential search website at www.queens.edu/presidential-search or directly to our search consultants atQueensPresident18@storbecksearch.com.
In closing, I would like to share how impressed I am with the quality of our search committee members. They share a seriousness of purpose and a commitment to representing the interests of the many stakeholders who care deeply about Queens. I am confident we have assembled the right group to ensure our success in making a recommendation for Queens’ 21st president to the Board of Trustees.
We will continue to keep you updated via the presidential search website. Thank you as always for your engagement and thoughtful consideration.
Chair, Presidential Search Committee
