A Message From President Pamela Davies
Welcome to Queens University of Charlotte.
It's a school that I'm honored to lead and to serve, and you'll find that it's a school that's unlike all others.
Queens is a small, intimate university set amid a thriving urban area. We're proud of our history that dates back to 1857, while equally proud of our innovative curriculum that anticipates the future. Our study abroad program is ranked among the best in the country, yet our motto—non ministrari sed ministrare ("not to be served, but to serve")—reminds students to answer the call of service in their home communities as well.
Small? Yes, and urban. Historic? Yes, and innovative. Adventurous? Yes, and altruistic.
We believe in the power of "Yes, and." This belief extends to value: Private? Yes, and affordable. At Queens, we are dedicated to making this personalized style of education within reach. We package merit and need-based scholarships, working with each student to create an individualized package to suit their financial needs. In fact, the cost of tuition for high-ability students from middle-income North Carolina families is often comparable—if not less than—a public institution.
We don't want to sate students' curiosities; we want to multiply them. So we offer a place for students of diverse backgrounds to explore many interests and to learn in different ways. We create an environment where they don't have to decide between two things. Here, students don't restrict their options with a "this or that" mentality. Here, they expand their futures with "yes, and" potential.
Thank you for your interest at Queens. In addition to exploring our school online, I hope that you will visit so that we can welcome you in person. This is a special place, and we hope to see you on campus soon.
Pamela Davies, Ph.D.
