Build Skills in Leadership, Entrepreneurial Thinking and Community Engagement

The arts leadership and administration major at Queens is unlike any other arts management degree. You'll focus on leadership, entrepreneurial thinking and community engagement, along with gaining a strong liberal arts foundation. This combination will prepare you for a fulfilling career in an exciting industry that will allow you to become an advocate for the arts. At Queens, we encourage you to double-major with another degree such as art history, studio art, music or creative writing.

From working in art galleries in Miami, to working alongside the Board of Directors for Charlotte's Arts & Science Council, to apprenticeships with local artists, our students gain invaluable hands-on experience to expose them to boundless opportunities. Charlotte has more than 30 art museums and galleries, which makes this a great place to study art. Some of these opportunities include:

  • Museums and galleries
  • Advertising firms
  • Actor's Theater of Charlotte
  • Arts & Science Council
  • Charlotte Symphony
  • Leon Levine Foundation

Job opportunities in the arts are growing both nationally and internationally. Some students have gone on to graduate school. Others have begun careers in the arts industry at organizations such as the Harvey B. Gantt Center for African-American Arts + Culture, the Bechtler Museum of Modern Art, the McColl Center for Art + Innovation and The Arts & Science Council.

Our faculty are experts and active in their fields, which helps get you connected to where you want to be.  They publish and lecture locally, nationally and internationally. Explore internship opportunities at Queens.

"At the Bechtler Museum of Modern Art, I helped develop the social media strategy and was involved in event planning and marketing. My other internship at Allison Sprock Fine Art has allowed me to help with the day-to-day operations that are required for running a gallery."
