BS IN Biochemistry
Chemistry & Environmental Science Department
Study the Chemistry of Living Things in one of the Fastest Growing Areas of Science
Biochemistry focuses on the chemistry of living things and is one of the fastest growing areas of science. Here, you’ll gain a deep footing in chemistry, as well as courses in biology, mathematics and physics. You’ll increase your understanding of science and your marketability in the workplace through our hands-on lab work with modern chemical instrumentation.
Research is an important part of our science curriculum, and it is unique here at Queens. You will have the opportunity to work with professors on research projects addressing real problems in areas that interest you. We often partner with community organizations to tackle real issues through our student-faculty research. Our major consists of a curriculum recommended by the American Chemist Society (ACS).
Rogers Hall features dynamic, interactive classrooms and lab space, a vibrant state-of-the-art greenhouse and an exterior green wall in the shape of a double helix. The sustainability features of the building itself demonstrate the environmental conservation that's taught within its walls.
The Biomanufacturing Lab is a place for course-embedded and independent research projects focused on biodiesel, cellulosic biofuels and bio-products. Core principals of analytical chemistry, biotechnology and engineering are used to construct and critically evaluate systems to produce sustainable fuels, materials and even medicines.
Our experienced faculty are passionate about their field. With their extensive knowledge and background, they are prepared to work closely with you as you pursue a degree in biochemistry. Meet your professors.
