Delve into sport marketing and sport finance, becoming a leader in sport and sport-related programming
If you have an intense passion for sports beyond the sidelines, the sport management major at Queens may be a great fit for you. You’ll delve into sport marketing and sport finance. You will also be asked to consider questions such as – Does the NBA’s new playoff format increase television ratings? Should unprofitable colleges be allowed to participate in NCAA athletics? How can ESPN develop new revenue streams? Can the NFL strengthen its substance abuse policies? How can the YMCA develop strong corporate partnerships?
You will examine sport-related careers at all levels: youth, high school, collegiate, amateur and professional. You will learn to plan, organize, establish, lead and appraise within an organization or sector whose primary product and/or service is connected to sport. This Bachelor of Science program empowers you to be an effective leader and to positively influence others through sport and sport-related programming.
When you graduate with a major in sport management, you will have a tremendous number of career opportunities including but not limited to athletic director, recreation director, agent, publicist, sports marketing director, private facility manager, promotions coordinator, sporting goods sales representative, sportscaster, media relations specialist, sales manager and event manager.
Career Growth
The Bureau of Labor Statistics finds that the employment of sport-related careers is projected to grow 15 percent between 2012 and 2022.
