Knight Scholarship in Communication

The Knight Scholarship allows its students to become leaders in the Knight School and beyond. Several opportunities are built into the Knight Scholars’ experience to provide a space for students to develop their individual voices, flex their critical-thinking skills, exercise their commitment to civic engagement, and build both community and professional relationships across the Charlotte area. Knight Scholars get training and first-hand experience in digital media and share what they learn with members of the Charlotte community as part of their service.

The Knight Scholarship is awarded annually to students entering the Knight School of Communication as freshmen. These scholarships are awarded to students ready to engage the community in digital and media literacy initiatives and provide $4,000 annually for up to four years.

What do Knight Scholars do?

Knight Scholars serve the community as workshop volunteers, sometimes even partnering with faculty to lead workshops, and engage in one-on-one training at community centers all across Charlotte.
