Associate Professor, Presbyterian School of Nursing


Dr. Janie Best has practiced as a registered nurse since 1974. She shares her dedication and enthusiasm for values-based and evidence-based nursing practice with students in Queens' B.S.N. and M.S.N. nursing programs.

Dr. Best is a member of Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society for Nursing, Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society, North Carolina Nurses Association, Clinical Nurse Leader Association and the National Association of Orthopaedic Nurses. She is certified as an Adult Health Clinical Nurse Specialist and Clinical Nurse Leader; her clinical practice focused on geriatrics, orthopaedics and medical surgical patients. Her doctoral studies focused on oncology nursing practice and she completed her scholarly project on evidence-based care of adults with chemotherapy-related febrile neutropenia.

Dr. Best's publications include articles on patient education, patient care, electronic documentation of non-verbal pain and febrile neutropenia. She has co-authored a chapter on evidence-based practice in Applied Clinical Informatics for Nurses. Dr. Best is a reviewer for Orthopaedic Nursing Journal, MEDSURG Nursing Journal, Nurse Educator and Journal of Nursing Care Quality. Research interests include evidence-based practice, nursing education, and online education.
