Susan Rucker

Assistant Professor, Interprofessional Health Studies Department

Dr. Susan Rucker has 30 years of healthcare leadership experience that spans the gamut from hospital administrator, to consulting firm president, to university faculty.

As a hospital administrator, she specialized in corporate strategy, long-term planning, bond refinancing, corporate wellness programs, medical staff development planning and supply chain management.

Dr. Rucker furthered her experience as vice president and then president of a mid-sized consulting firm. In 2000, at the Medical University of South Carolina, she achieved the honor of being the first female in the U.S. to earn a doctorate in health administration. Though she has maintained a few consulting clients, she has spent the last eight years in higher education.

She loves spending time with her husband David, and their two adult children, Annie and John.
