In September, Honors students Sophia Vittone, JC Clark, and Sebastian Ramirez Araya proudly represented Queens University at the North Carolina Honors Association Conference hosted by Western Carolina University. We\u2019re thrilled to announce that Queens will host this prestigious conference on our campus in Fall 2025!<br><br>This semester, twenty Honors students are engaged in innovative creative and research projects through independent honorizations of their courses. These projects showcase their academic curiosity and commitment to scholarly achievement, with topics ranging from conservation and park design, self-portrait series creation, optimizing running strategies, music therapy for health and wellness, testing compounds for antibiotic activity, early psychology theorist research, aquatic plant documentation, investor behavior analysis, developing lab protocols for spectrophotometer use, exploring the ethics of gene editing, creating branding materials, and designing word-building exercises.<br><br>Upper-level Honors students also conducted campus presentations addressing complex challenges such as access to healthcare, invasive species, the housing crisis, and healthcare accessibility. These presentations highlighted the Honors pathway, which emphasizes attributes such as being honorably connected, intellectually agile, civically engaged, professionally prepared, and globally informed.<br><br>The fall has also been a showcase of student success and impactful research. Maggie Dineen shared her meaningful work around interfaith dialogue in Guatemala through Projects for Peace.
