The Harriet James Hopkins Leadership in Education Fund is a <em>$1,000 annual scholarship<\/em> given to select Queens students pursuing a graduate degree in education or professionals who are part of the School Executive Leadership Academy. All students who begin in the summer term (May) will be considered for a scholarship, and the priority deadline to be considered for is April 1, so <a href=\"https:\/\/apply.queens.edu\/apply\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">apply today<\/a>. Recipients will also have access to mentoring sessions after graduation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Your M.Ed. in Action<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Our program is designed for K12 teachers who want to stay in the classroom but want to take their teaching in a new direction. It\u2019s also designed for those looking to apply curriculum design to jobs in outside industries. Our M.Ed. graduates go on to hold a variety of positions, including:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Instructional Coaches<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Deans of Students<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Facilitators<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Lead Teachers<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Specialists within the schools, as well as in the systems in which they work<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Community College Faculty<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Curriculum Specialist<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Professional Development Specialist<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Corporate Training Developer<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Instructional Technology Coordinator\/Designer<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Instructional Systems Specialist<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Selected Courses<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Supervision to Improve Instruction (EDU 631)<\/strong>: You\u2019ll engage in an exploration of the role of the school executive in supervising and improving instruction. Topics include teacher coaching, professional development, best practices, collegiality, and shared leadership.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Leading in a Global Society (EDU 642)<\/strong>: You\u2019ll be introduced to the critical role that leaders have in the success of schools, the success of systems, the success of a global community, and the success of the individual student. In addition, you\u2019ll reflect on the history of the principalship and various leadership theories.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Education Law and Ethics (EDU 667)<\/strong>: This course is designed to lead you through an examination of both the ethical and legal dimensions of school leadership. You\u2019ll explore legal issues facing students and educators as well as landmark court cases that have shaped the schools of today.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Improving Instruction Using Data (EDU 676)<\/strong>: You\u2019ll focus on the critical expectation that school executives can create processes for the collection and use of student assessment data for the purpose of improving classroom instruction.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Student Highlights<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>&#8220;I have become more intentional in every aspect of the educational landscape, from classroom instruction to becoming a more adept leader.
