Congratulations on your student\u2019s decision to become a Royal! We know that starting college is an exciting time filled with questions, and we\u2019re here to support both you and your student every step of the way. As your family begins this journey at Queens University of Charlotte, we\u2019re committed to providing the guidance and resources needed for a smooth transition. We look forward to partnering with you to ensure your student\u2019s success!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

One question we always get is,<\/strong> should parents attend ROAR? The short answer is yes<\/em>! We know schedules can be busy, but we highly encourage a parent or family member to attend ROAR with their student. By attending ROAR, the student, their parent, and guests will be more informed about the student experience, campus resources, and next steps for finalizing their enrollment at Queens. As a parent or family member, you’ll have the opportunity to learn more about how to support and be a partner in your student’s success at Queens.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Some additional benefits of attending ROAR as a parent\/family member include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  • Getting to know key campus contacts and administrators, as well as other parents.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Receiving information you can utilize for future conversations with your student.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Becoming familiar with the campus and the Charlotte community where your student will be spending the next few years.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

    Student check-in will start at Albright Residence hall where you will be shown to your room. Please settle in and then proceed to the next part of your day. <\/em><\/p>\n

    Join the Residence Life team for guided tours of our residence halls and get a firsthand look at where you’ll live, learn, and connect. This is a great opportunity to ask questions, explore amenities, and envision your home away from home.<\/em><\/p>\n

    This family-focused session will help you understand how your student\u2019s academic journey is constructed. You\u2019ll learn about key policies, degree requirements, and the resources available to support your student\u2019s success.<\/em><\/p>\n

    2:30-3:00 p.m. | Understanding Your Student’s Area of Study<\/strong><\/p>\n

    A representative from each college will provide an overview of your student\u2019s first year, introduce the academic unit, explain faculty roles and expectations for academic rigor.<\/em><\/p>\n

                        Student-athletes and families are invited to learn about the Queens student-athlete experience, including insurance and compliance.                         Changing Your Major<\/strong>

                        Thinking about changing your major, still undecided, or unable to meet with your Royal Advisor before ROAR? This breakout session is designed to help you prepare for a successful start at Queens University of Charlotte. You\u2019ll explore academic interests and major options, learn about campus resources, review important registration information, and receive guidance on your next steps before registering for classes on Day 2 of ROAR. Staff will also be available to answer questions and help you feel confident and prepared for course registration.<\/em><\/p>\n
