{"id":118,"date":"2023-09-17T18:18:09","date_gmt":"2023-09-17T22:18:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.queens.edu\/titleix\/?page_id=118"},"modified":"2026-05-08T09:13:36","modified_gmt":"2026-05-08T13:13:36","slug":"title-ix-sexual-misconduct","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.queens.edu\/titleix\/","title":{"rendered":"The Office of Civil Rights and Title IX"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>&#8220;No person in the United States shall, on the basis of sex, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any education program or activity receiving federal financial assistance.&#8221;<\/p>\n<cite>&#8211; Title IX of the Education amendments of 1972<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>Title IX protects people from discrimination based on sex in education programs or activities that receive federal financial assistance, as well as provides education around sexual and gender-based violence and gender equity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Queens University of Charlotte is committed to maintaining a respectful academic and working environment for students, faculty, staff, and visitors. This includes having an environment free from unlawful sexual misconduct and interpersonal violence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Non-Discrimination Policy<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Queens University of Charlotte does not discriminate on the basis of age, race, color, creed, sex, national or ethnic origin, disability, sexual orientation, gender identity, or veteran\u2019s status (collectively, &#8220;Protected Categories&#8221;) in the recruitment and admission of students, the recruitment and employment of faculty and staff, or the operation of any of its programs. Consistent with our nondiscrimination statement, the university does not tolerate discrimination or harassment of employees, students, or other individuals associated with the university, including, but not limited to, vendors, contractors, and guests on the basis of any of these Protected Categories.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Any person associated with the university who fails to comply fully with this policy will be properly disciplined.
