Algernon Sydney Sullivan Award

The Algernon Sydney Sullivan Award was established by the New York Southern Society in 1925 in memory of Mr. Algernon Sullivan, a prominent lawyer, businessman, and philanthropist in New York in the late 19th century. The award seeks to perpetuate the excellence of character and humanitarian service of Mr. Sullivan by honoring such qualities in others. Such lives must be ever encouraging and inspiring, and they justify our highest ideals and hopes. Queens University of Charlotte has honored Algernon Sydney Sullivan Award winners since 1948. Each year, two awards are presented: one to a person who is a friend of the university and one to a member of the graduating class.
