Parents & Family Resources

Families of Queens students have access to a variety of resources and support services. After all, you’re a part of the Royal family, too. The support of parents and family members is essential to your college student’s success and we want to give you the tools to help you do that.

Academics

Selecting an academic program is a big decision. Is your student’s major undecided? That’s no problem! We’re not like the other gen eds. Our gen ed program includes learning communities. These are groups of classes that focus on examining one topic from various lenses. This allows students to develop a deep and real-world understanding of some of society’s most complex issues.

Admissions & Aid

The admissions team at Queens is dedicated to connecting you with career-making opportunities and any guidance you’ll need about the admissions process.

Not all colleges and universities talk about cost the same way. But we figure that if you’re investing your hard-earned money, you deserve the transparent truth about price. Keep in mind that the “sticker” price isn’t always your final price. If you do your due diligence and apply for financial aid, you may be pleasantly surprised by the financial support that’s available.

Parent Resources

Looking for information about your student’s account or financial aid? We’ve compiled some of those parent-centric topics and resources just for you!

Bookstore

If you’re looking for ways to showcase your Royals pride, check out the university bookstore’s online shop for apparel, accessories, and gifts.

Campus Living

Fun Reigns in Charlotte

Great news! Your student will get the best of both worlds at Queens. Our campus is nestled in the historic neighborhood of Myers Park. It’s nothing short of picturesque with its winding walkways and 100-year-old trees. Yet it’s just minutes from the hustle and bustle of Uptown Charlotte. We could go on and on about all the fun things there are to do in Charlotte and you’ll be able to enjoy it when you visit, too.

Campus Police & Public Safety

Keeping everyone safe is our top priority. The Queens Campus Police & Public Safety Department is dedicated to upholding and enforcing the law and managing risks to ensure the safety of everyone at Queens. We strive to foster an approachable and protective environment where students, faculty, and staff can rely on us for a variety of safety and security concerns.

QAlert

QAlert is the emergency notification system that we use to notify the campus community of an emergency, incident, inclement weather, or class cancellations. Text, phone, and email messages are sent through QAlert about the status of a given situation, as well as other important details.

Health & Wellness Center

We prioritize the well-being of our students—body, soul and mind. Queens has established a multi-year partnership with one of Charlotte’s esteemed healthcare providers—Atrium Health. Together, we’ll be able to offer on-campus clinical services, counseling, preventive, and sports medicine care for our students at the Health & Wellness Center.

Family Council

Activities include meetings during Family Weekend and Homecoming, hosting local summer send-off gatherings, serving as a contact for prospective families, and supporting the Queens Fund. Kathy Griswold Fine Ph.D. and Jonathan Fine P’23 P’24 currently serve as Family Council Co-Chairs.

Family & Friends Weekend

Family & Friends Weekend is a wonderful opportunity to visit your student on campus and get to know their friends and other families. Come enjoy a fun-filled weekend of exploration, education, and entertainment by attending a variety of programs and events—all while spending quality time with your student.
